Up to Date Info for Voting
Dear WI Neighbors,
Our spring election is happening today, April 7th. Your polling location is open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. To find your polling location, please visit the Wisconsin MyVote Site.
Polling locations have been set up to allow for social distancing practices to keep poll workers and voters safe. Please watch this video from the Eau Claire Health Department for information to keep yourself and those around you safe.
Please note, the deadline to return your absentee ballot has changed, again. Absentee ballots must be postmarked or delivered to your municipal clerk by today, April 7th to be counted (CNBC article).
The history behind this saga is that on Monday afternoon, Governor Evers signed Executive Order #74, which would have suspended in-person voting until June 9, 2020 because of COVID-19. However, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled yesterday afternoon that Governor Evers cannot postpone the election. (CNN article) Based on this decision, in-person voting will still be taking place, today, April 7th.
It is a sad day in WI when some in our legislature and on our Supreme Court believe that it is okay for people to have to chose between staying safe and exercising their right to vote.
Today we vote, if you have not already, and tomorrow we can use our anger and frustration that we feel today to fuel our organizing for prosperous Western WI communities tomorrow.
