Roadside Revival
We are reviving the land along roadsides in Pierce County as pollinator habitat, similar to successful projects in Iowa and other states. This has the added benefits of improving soil and water quality, among others.
No Mow May
To build momentum this spring for pollinator action, our first step is promoting the adoption of “No Mow May”, which helps provide essential food supply for pollinators emerging from hibernation. Appleton, WI was recently featured in the New York Times for becoming the first city in the US to adopt No Mow May: In Wisconsin: Stowing Mowers, Pleasing Bees – nytimes.com. If you are interested or will be participating in No Mow May, please let us know here!
Stay Tuned
This summer, we will organize teams of local residents to advocate for the adoption of integrated roadside vegetation management on at least 20 miles of roadside in Pierce County.
